Jeff and I have been LOVING having date night every Friday night! THANK YOU Ben and Caitlin for making it possible! We go to the movies - in the theater, use Groupons for places like Color Me Mine and indoor rock climbing, do really random made-up activities where we act like kids (more on that in a later post), and almost always get frozen yogurt because my husband loves me. It's FANTASTIC!
One Friday night a few weeks back, we didn't really have any plans, but we were excited about the time alone so we dropped Luke off and then stopped by the store to grab things to make s'mores in an attempt to make a movie at home a little more interesting. We decided to watch Stardust (LOVE that movie) and we were planning on watching it out in our backyard and making s'mores using the little (Texas-themed) fire pit that the previous owners of our house left behind.
Our plans to watch the movie outside didn't work out this time - I don't even remember why. It had something to do with not being able to get a TV with a DVD player outside very quickly or easily and we didn't want to waste precious date time. So we ended up snuggled up on the couch to watch it. It was lovely, but before the movie was even over, we realized it was already Luke's bedtime and we hadn't roasted a single marshmallow yet. (Yes, we could have roasted them after we picked Luke up, brought him home and put him to bed, but we were tired. Haha pathetic.)
But not all was lost! We had a blast roasting marshmallows and making s'mores with Luke the following night...
Until the house caught on fire... haha juuust kidding!
Luke wanted to help.
Luke literally pushed me out of my chair so he could sit in it.
He thought he was pretty funny.
Luke's first bite of a s'more.
He approved!
When Jeff finished roasting his second set of marshmallows (a good s'more has 2 mallows), I ran over to the coffee table to get him his graham crackers and chocolate, but I was shocked to find that the entire king size Hershey's chocolate bar was gone! I turned around to find Luke standing off to the side, face covered in chocolate, munching on the massive bar like he wasn't doing anything wrong. This boy has a serious sweet tooth!
I put the chocolate bar back and went to get the camera to take a picture of Luke's chocolate-covered face. Apparently, Luke took our laughter to mean that he wouldn't get in trouble for stealing chocolate so he didn't even try to hide it when he stole it again.
Caught!
No more chocolate face!
