As promised, here is a picture of my adorable 6 inch tall birthday cake. It turns out cake decorating is no 'piece of cake'(har har har). The swirls were easy, of course, and so were the flowers I ended up settling for, but I started out trying to learn how to make roses and daisies, with little success. I ended up just drawing little flowers instead. It still turned out alright. I might have given it a little more effort, but the headache and weakness of the night before came back and I just didn't have the energy. So here it is - my cute little cake. Maybe next time, I'll figure out how to do some designs and flowers that require a little more skill ...
It was quite delicious. It's chocolate fudge with homemade strawberry filling. The extra cake (pictured in my birthday post) also had strawberry filling. It was oh so scrumptious.
While I was trying to decorate the little cake the morning after my birthday, Luke was being a little grumpy and needy. Maybe he was just mad I was putting most of my focus on the cake and ignoring him. That's why I was relieved when he quieted down and seemed content playing with his toys a couple of feet away from me. It wasn't until I pulled my focus from the cake and glanced over to check on him that I noticed the reason he was being so quiet ...
He had somehow managed to get his hands on the bowl of frosting and had made fast work of smearing it all over himself and the floor.
Oh my mischievous little destructor.

I can vouch for that little cake being delicious as I had some for breakfast on Friday :)
