Aww church basketball. It seems like every jammed finger and sprained ankle Jeff has had during our (almost) 4 years of marriage have been a result of a game of church basketball. And this particularly ugly sprained ankle was no exception. I got a call from Jeff one night, telling me that he was on his way home from playing with some guys in the ward and asking me to please get a bag of ice ready. Oh boy. What is it this time?? I knew it was bad when Jeff told me that it hurt "pretty bad" and when he had to sleep on the couch because he couldn't make it up the stairs. That husband of mine is tough! And he usually keeps pretty quiet about pain from injuries and illnesses, and minimizes the reality of whatever is ailing him. So, when he admits that it hurts "pretty bad" and doesn't force himself up the stairs, I know it's BAD! And it was, because over a month later, it's still not 100% and he has just started to be able to run on it with only a little pain. But he has been a trooper and has complained so little that I forgot several times that he was even injured!
This is what his poor ankle looked like the morning after the injury...
Luke wasn't sure why we were taking pictures of our ankles, but he wanted in!
And this was taken 2 or 3 days later. Ouch!
