In between sessions of conference, Jeff and I had a lovely bike ride for the first time in months! With Luke and no babysitters living nearby, our bikes have been lonely and untouched on our balcony since we moved in, but we recently bought a bike trailer and this weekend, we gave it a test run. It felt so great to be on our bikes again (probably more so for me than for Jeff since he got a serious workout towing Luke in the trailer, while I was free as a bird). That used to be one of our favorite activities and we took long rides at least once a week when the weather was nice. We are both overjoyed to have one of our favorite pass times back and to add another activity to the short list of things we can do for fun in Flagstaff with Luke in tow.
Luke did great the whole ride. He slept for most of it, despite the bouncing, and when he was awake he just sat contentedly with his Pluto. We went about 5 miles and I was very impressed with how well Jeff maneuvered around ditches and poles, across streets, and up and down ramps with the added girth provided by the trailer.
Luke is still too small to sit in the trailer alone so Jeff used bungee cords to secure the car seat tightly inside. This was his first attempt, but he soon found an even better way.
Luke wasn't going anywhere. I was so impressed at how incredibly secure Luke was after Jeff worked his magic.
Little Luke happy with his furry companion
In Luke's opinion, Pluto is perfect for chewing.
