Rock Climbing, Avengers, Temple, Eating Out, and a Little Yard Work

May 4, 2012 - May 5, 2012

The title of this post pretty much gives the highlights of a seriously awesome weekend (way back at the beginning of May). It started with rock climbing for date night on Friday night. Jeff and I had gone to the same indoor rock climbing place less than a week before with Steven and Kyle (Jeff's younger brothers). We barely managed to use our Groupons before they expired and we were glad we did because it was such a good time!

Jeff and I used to rock climb at a place called the Quarry in Provo when we were dating and first married. It was our favorite thing to do together when we lived there and these two visits reminded us why. To us, the best kind of dates are the ones that involve playing so hard that we are completely worn out by the end (rock climbing does that pretty quickly) and it felt awesome to conquer the couple of more difficult walls that we tried so hard (and failed) to reach the top of the first time, when we came back for our second visit.

On Saturday, Jeff, Luke, and I left for Spring first thing in the morning. Greg and Renita babysat Luke while Steven, Kyle, Jeff and I hit an early showing of The Avengers - AMAZING movie! We all loved it!

After the movie, Jeff and I went for our first-Saturday-of-the-month tradition: a couple of hours together at the temple and frozen yogurt afterwards. Wonderful. We are so happy to have a temple so close and to have the best babysitters (Greg & Renita) watch Luke every time we go. I just LOVE the temple and the peaceful, happy feeling I have every time I'm there.

There is another tradition that happens on the first Saturday of every month: Greg and Renita take the whole family out to dinner because it is Fast Sunday the following day (in our church we fast on the first Sunday of every month). They have been doing this since Jeff and his brothers were kids. Such a great tradition! We went to Red Robin. Yum!

Saturday is Ben and Caitlin's date night (we babysit for them and they watch Luke for us on Fridays), so we took the girls home with us after dinner. Jeff headed out to take care of the yard work, while I played with the kids upstairs. When they heard Jeff make his way to the backyard, they all ran over to watch him from Luke's bedroom window...

Becca took this picture of Bethany.

When Jeff was finished mowing and weed wacking, he called the kids down to help him with the leaf blower...

Loud noises make Becca a little nervous.

But she tries to hide it.

Bethany got the first turn.

Luke went next.

Luke couldn't wait for Becca to take her turn and find out how fun it was, but she wasn't so sure. She told him "No!" and cried a little.

Luke took it personally.

It was nearly impossible to get a non-blurry picture of Luke as he ran around like a crazy person, laughing his head off, while Jeff turned the leaf blower on him and the girls!

Becca didn't want to touch the leaf blower, but she thought this was a blast!

Could she be any cuter?!

A clear picture! I guess he stopped moving for half a second!

Luke got his hands on the leaf blower and immediately went on the attack!

Time for a little Yo Gabba Gabba!

Jeff made a ride out of a giant cardboard box and a blanket. Funnest dad and uncle award!

Jeff dragged and spun them all over the house until the box broke! It made for some happy kiddos!

And we finished off the weekend with a lovely Sunday filled with church, family dinner, and time with my boys. Ahh, life is grand.
