One night last week, we had a couple of hours of free time before Luke's bedtime. Jeff and I had both worked out in the morning, we had already eaten dinner, and we had nothing else planned for the night so we decided to take Luke to the mall to walk around and play in the kids' play area.
Luke loved it. We put him in most of the coin operated cars, boats, and animals so that he could play with the steering wheels and blinking lights and buttons. He could've just stayed in each one and played for a long, long time. Especially the space shuttle, his favorite. It was one of the very few times that I've ever seen him refuse the offer to be picked up.
Next, we went to the kids' play area, where everything was spongy and soft. Luke walked both Jeff and I all around the area several times. But he had the most fun chasing around an older boy who put on a show for him by running up and falling off of the igloo slide. Luke laughed so hard every time the boy fell in front of him and then crawled as fast as he could to try and catch him before he could run back up the slide, giggling the whole time. The little boy was very sweet to entertain Luke for so long. Then a playmate the boy's own age came along and their adorable little conversation went like this:
"Do you wanna play with me?"
"Sure. Wanna play tag?"
"Okay." [both take off running at full speed]
